Air B&B being built next door

Options
Our next door neighbour has built a log cabin which she is going to run as an air b&b. The cabin is in their paddock which runs adjacent to our house and garden, about 2.5m higher (so overlooks our garden).
Would having an air b&b this close effect our house price when we come to sell in a few years time? Or are we best to move now before it turns into an air b&b?
I’d appreciate any advice!

  • We over heard her saying about it, and a contractor of hers also told us in conversation.

She hasn’t got planning for the cabin to be an air b&b, it’s meant to be used for family and friends as overspill from their main house. So there will be a planning breach, however she has already breached planning on other things and the council have let it slide!

If the log cabin is in situ, then it will still overlook your garden whether it is an Air B&B or not. About 10 houses to the rear of mine overlook my garden.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Overlooking might put some buyers off, but I doubt it will have any identifiable effect on price.

If it can only house a couple of people it wouldn't put me off. But if it can sleep 10....

I should also say that starting a dispute with the neighbour (if you haven't already...) and having to declare that to buyers is more likely to affect the value of your property!

A lot of homes with land near my house are putting Shepherds Huts in their back gardens and renting them out on Airbnb and making quite a bit of money in the process. At least they look nice.

I'm in Devon by the way
