I had a new bathroom installed in October 2018. A few months back the pop up plug seized up. This part appears to cost for a similar type at a plumbers merchants about £20.
I have been informed by the bathroom installers that the manufacturer has changed the design of that type of pop up plug and waste pipework. This means that all pipework for waste water to be changed . Plus work involved. How to I stand legally . Yes bathroom out of warranty . But replacing all pipework could be a major job. I thought manufacturers had to supply parts for a minimum number of years ? Can anyone please advise.

I'm not aware of any general requirement for manufacturers to provide spare parts at all, never mind for a minimum period.0

I don't think that was the case back in 2018. There has been talk recently of white goods etc being required to have spare parts available for a number of years after production ceases. With the bath, even if the pop-up plug and waste has to be replaced that should not require all of the pipework also to be replaced.

the bath waste will connect to a standard 40mm plastic waste pipe. Take the side panel off, unscrew the waste from the pipe and replace.2

You could get a standard plug instead of a pop up one.0

Pop up plugs are just another example of an over-complicated solution to a straightforward problem.
I've lost count of the number of hotel rooms I've stayed in where the pop up plug doesn't work properly or requires some non-intuitive pushing. pulling or kicking.2 -
Yes, a solution looking for a problem that never existed.0

the Multiplex Trio E digital bathtub plughole from Viega.- Fully wifi actuated, you can pull the plug and empty your bath from the road outside or anywhere in the world.
- The app (Android, OS or Windows) even has a visualisation showing a simulation of the plug going up and down.
- Advanced security system to prevent hackers pulling the plug on you while you are enjoying a soak.
Viega don't quote a price but problem solving at this level doesn't come cheap.3
