PCN - Parking in Family Bay in Evening - Inapplicable Contravention Code

Recently I went to the theatre, mid-week to a show starting at 8pm. The car park was nearly empty and all the bays nearest the entrance are marked family bays, dozens of them, all empty and I paid for my parking. Since it was a school night, the shopping centre was closed, the show was for adults and the town dead, I assumed there would be few families around and I just parked in one with my standard size car.
When I returned I had a PCN on my windscreen with a violation code 91 - "Parked in a car park or area not designated for that class of vehicle". Now, regardless of whether or not you think I should have used a family bay (personally I think there was no reason not to), the penalty code is rather strange. My "class of vehicle" is clearly a standard motor car. There is no signage saying you can't park in the family spaces. The only signage visible on restrictions says "No heavy goods vehicles, buses, coaches, trailers, motor cycles, pedal cycles or vehicles exceeding 6'0" (1'98m) in height".
I think the PCN is invalid, since the violation code is about the class of vehicle and clearly my standard car does not violate the terms of the car park.
Yet the council rejected my appeal. What should I do?

As we major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there but please note that a hotmail address won't work - try using a throwaway gmail account instead if you do have trouble registering and post a new thread; here's your link:Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate) as they need to see all the small print. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

What is a 'family' space, no such thing in terms of Council bays?!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
