Ya I agree with FB, it’s the neighbour who employed the cowboys, and it’s their responsibility to put it right, you shouldn’t have to contact the roofing company as the contact was not with you.
txt is a big no no IMO.

On the contrary. The neighbours employed the contractors, so they are ultimately responsible for any damage. They should be the ones calling these builders back to rectify any shoddy workmanship and not leaving it to the OP to fix.

    Agree 100%.

I can't believe people are suggesting this is nothing to do with the neighbour. If I'd paid to have work done and the neighbours' property had been damaged, I would feel it was absolutely my responsibility to get it resolved.

So the neighbour is financially liable for any damage caused by this builder?
All parties do have a 'duty of care', so the neighbour could also be liable if it could be demonstrated they were somehow negligent. I dunno - if they witnessed the flinging of butts (matron!) and said or did nothing about it. Or if they were aware of the poorly finished join and said nothing. Or they encouraged the builder to prop one leg of their scaffolding on their rubbish bin. Ie, something they should reasonably be aware of.
But if the OP suggests anything like this to the neighb without very good cause, then expect a fall-out. "You must have seen them dropping fag ends on my lawn - why didn't you say anything?"
