Renovation quote : Knocking down a wall and taking out a chimney

Hello all,

I've been quoted the following and wanted to check if it was a fair quote: 

Knocking down a wall and installing an RSJ : £8700
Removing a chimney breast and stack : £4800
Repainting 2 bedrooms, 2 reception rooms and hallway : £7600

The painting quote seems a bit high so made me think that the other quotes were also on the high side but I don't have any experience knocking down walls or taking chimneys out. 

Let me know your thoughts.

I should probably mention that the property is based in Greater London, Zone 5 on rail network.

Does that include structural engineer calculations and building control sign-off ?

Presumably, they will be making good the roof and removing all waste.

Structural calculations and building control are separate. TBH they wouldn't discuss quotes until I provided the calculations. They didn't mention the roof. I'll double check

Cant offer an opinion other than OUCH ! But make sure the chosen ones have a massive public liability insurance in place and get a copy.
 Chimney breast removeal can cause many, many issues.

Too expensive and I'm in zone 5 of London. I was recently quoted £7k to completely renovate my 2 bedrooms, upstairs and downstairs hallways and 1 reception room. This included complete plastering, painting, skirting, door frames, doors, architraves, flooring and including knocking down part of a wall to adjust my reception room door entrance. Definitely try and shop around. My quote obviously didn't include the cost of materials which I would have to set aside cash for
