Pulled over for speeding but nothing received in post..?

I got pulled over for speeding (36 in a 20) and the police read me my rights, etc and said I'd receive something in the post within 28 days confirming next action.

I have a totally clean licence but given how far over the limit I was, I know there is no chance of a speed awareness course.

Issue is that since being pulled over I have heard nothing more and nothing has arrived in the post, and it's been longer than the timescale of 28 days I was told. What should I do? Not even sure who to contact and the officer that pulled me over didn't give me anything in writing or a slip with any references numbers.

That speed means court.  It could be 5 and a bit months before you hear anything, since you were told at the roadside that you would be considered for prosecution and read your rights

Why would that matter? If the driver was stopped at the roadside the officer would have taken his details and no reference to the DVLA records would be necessary.

As above, that speed is too fast for either a course (usually offered up to 31mph) or a Fixed Penalty (usually offered up to 35mph) So you can expect a "Single Justice Procedure Notice" to arrive. The police have six months from the date of the offence to produce this and in many areas they often take all of that time. So it may be a little over six months before you receive it.

If you plead guilty you can expect to be fined a weeks net income (reduced by a third for your guilty plea), a "Victim Surcharge" of 10% of the fine (minimum £34) and £85 costs. The sentencing guidelines also suggest either a ban of between 7 and 28 days or between 4 and 6 points. The strongest likelihood is six points, though you may be lucky and get away with five.
