@RedRuby1231 - I've been offline for a couple of days and have just logged back in and saw your terribly sad news. Sending my love and prayers to you, your SIL and your wider family at this very difficult and sad time.7

Been to Church - one of the long time members died suddenly yesterday so a sombre service of reflection. I was given two cushions to use for stuffing so they are currently being washed. Also given two large bags of marshmallows to make into cakes to raise funds. As Mr F does the recycling at Church - no facilities for that there so we put it in our bins - we came home well laden.
I had an order for 10 knitted chicks last night so need to get my needles working.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Afternoon all. Another bright and sunny day but it's not too warm for the first day of official Spring as I found out when I went to the bin. Brr.
Yesterday afternoon's meet up with friend/ex-neighbour was a really nice change - other than necessary trips to the shop, pharmacy, hairdresser, eye clinic and jabs I haven't been "out" for two years! We had a long catch up and enjoyed a coffee and cake at the cafe we went to and even managed to find an outside corner table in an out of the wind position so we could enjoy the sunshine. We've agreed to do it again next time she's here later in the year.
DH's knee is still playing up although not as swollen since he's gone back to using his stick; I think he was putting too much pressure on his knee trying to get around without it (the stick, that is). We'll see how it goes - he's not one for going to the docs unless forced.
Dinner tonight is cottage pie (pre-made meat base from the freezer) and roasted cauliflower, all ready to pop in the oven later. I'm using up the last of the fruit loaf I made the other day for a bread & butter pudding, so that can go in the oven at the same time. The BM has nearly finished with a wholemeal loaf and I have a dozen mini cheesecakes setting in the freezer. I think I may have overdone it with the cream as the mixture seems a bit sloppy. No matter, if it's too soft we can have them with some fruit mixed in. Other than that, it's a slothful Sunday.
Gers - I'd leave the cauli cheese "as is" too. I've only made cauli soup once and it was truly awful. Sorry to those who like it, just not to our taste.
My thoughts are with those struggling at the moment, life is a b**ch sometimes. Take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.7 -
A bright but chilly day here today - I went to Chapel early as I was subbing for another member of the Worship Group and we rehearse from 9.30 until just before the service starts at 10. It was a Communion Service, so a little longer but it was good to see so many back after the lockdowns and restriction, though we are being very careful as Covid is rising in Devon again.
Came home and put the slow cooker on - we have Pulled Pork tonight, with potato wedges and a green salad. Then we went down to the garden centre to buy 8' canes for the runner bean supports and had a late lunch when we returned.
After that, we put our second set of Warmroom Magnetic radiator panels on the radiator in the sitting room (we did the one in our farmhouse kitchen last week and it really has made a difference). The walls on which these radiators are installed are uninsulated (cob in the kitchen and Victorian brick in the sitting room) and where they were warm to the touch before, they are now decidedly cooler - guess that means we aren't heating the wall now instead of the room!
Hugs, thoughts, love and prayers to all who need them as we go forward into another week. Take care, all xxx6 -
LadyHarriet - my Dd and sil have just returned from a week's holiday in Devon - she said that they were very careful while there - Dd works with poorly patients.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
