British Gas The People's Tariff - Moving electricity only to Octopus

Hi. Currently on The People's Tariff with British gas. Ofgem cap. Moved across when People's Energy went bust. I want to move our electricity supply across to octopus soon in order to get access to the Tesla Energy Plan. But I don't want to move the gas as Octopus will not put us on the Ofgem cap. Does anyone know if this is possible - to leave BG for one utility only? Many thanks.

Yes, you can move one energy source at a time. Make sure the gaining provider wants you first, though.

I've just done exactly this moving my Electric to Octopus and leaving my Gas with BG on the Welcome Together tariff. Octopus have been great with plenty of communication and everything was smooth. BG were, well, BG. They sent me one 'sorry to see you go' letter and are now sending endless meter read requests via email. Par for the course apparently.

I moved gas and electric from BG to Octopus on the standard variable tariff with the Ofgem cap without any issue. Will be moving onto the Go tariff once my switch is complete.

Brilliant thanks all. I will ask octopus again if they will accept my gas on the Ofgem cap when I move. I would prefer to exit stage right from british gas altogether!!
