New build exchange deadline - how strict?

HTB have requested amendments before they will issue ATE ☹️. Unfortunately, this means I won't be able to exchange next week as HTB take at least three working days to process any amendments
The developers are chasing, although I suspect they are trying to meet end of financial year targets. They already know that I cannot proceed further without ATE from Help to Buy. Technically, I have until the end of April before they can remarket the plot
I now understand why conveyancers do not like working on new builds let alone help to buy

We paid a deposit August 2020 (I think) for the new build flat we were going to buy.Their solicitors took ages to answer questions about the leasehold and were pushing us to exchange with only a draft lease available. We were in no hurry as the completion kept being pushed back. The purchase collapsed in February 2021 when they failed to meet their 'promises' about resolving the issues. They never threatened to pull out in that time just pushed for us to sign.May you find your sister soon Helli.
