Economy 7/10 Double standing charges for one fuel type: Time to change to single meter?

With the upcoming tariff increases, I'm considering whether it's time to dump the Economy 10 tariff with a standing charge on BOTH meters and reverting to a single meter with one standing charge, albeit the the rate for electricity usage will be higher for water and storage heating.
I'd be interested whether anyone else has done the sums?

Have you tried requesting a smart meter? You might be able to retain E10 and only have one meter to pay daily charge on.It will also make other TOU tariffs available, when some sort of normality returns to the market.1

Apologies for throwing in everything but the kitchen sink, but you may find a few gems in this lot. I haven't filtered the list, so you may find some things more relevant than others.TL;DR: You may not need any meter change, you may be able to get single rate and pay only one standing charge.Good luck ! Please come back and tell us how things went; many people don't and then it's unclear how relevant the advice turned out to be.3

Because of the changes in tariff and providers, it's taking some time to work out costs and potential costs and, of course whether the upcoming rates will be only short term - or not. #SpinningPlates

It's not allowed for them to charge two standing charges. I've seen something about this but can't find it. Basically, people were able to claim back the incorrectly charged standing charges. I think Ofgem might have been involved. You'd have to search it out, maybe google, might have been on BBC news. I'm sorry I can't post the exact link but I have definately seen this reported as illegal double charging.
