Euro lock jamming

I have just changed a euro lock on a front door, its the right size and turns freely when out of the door, but when fitted and the fixing screw is started to tighten it becomes difficult to lock or unlock, something is creating resistance.
If the fixing screw is tightened fully the lock will not turn at all.
I have tried using both the different length fixing screws supplied and the fixing screw from the original lock and still have the same problem.

its not the cylinder, it's the multipoint door lock.

Thats the long metal fitting you see running up the door edge.

You can, if a competent DIYer take out this system and oil it or check it for damage.

It's a common problem, they tend to fail with age. I have changed dozens of them but there are hundreds of different ones so you need to take it to a local supplier, a hardware store in the industrial estates who deal with the trade and get them to match it up.

There are universal ones from Yale you can get in B&Q but never been able to get the one I have to fit any door so far, it sits in my garage waiting to be used.

Dont worry if it is to long as they need cut top and bottom for the correct door length.

    Very interesting and also correct.

    A very timely post.

If it is a very old one (DSG marked on it) is it still possible to get a replacement?

    Thank you.
