Returning signed for ....

I heard from a buyer 2 days ago saying their package had not arrived.... I had sent it recorded and according the the RM site it had been delivered, complete with signature, days ago. (I had not told him I had sent recorded before this)

I tell him this, then he comes back and says the RM have returned it as I had addressed it incorrectly. I usually just use the printer by pasting into word and told him this is what I do, as it matched up with both paypal and ebay, how could I have got it wrong?

Now I know enough about RM to know that they dont keep any tracking on Signed for ..... its just signed for, if its been delivered they then wont send it back saying that it was incorrectly addressed.

His address seemed like a business, but as it was confirmed I didnt think too much of it.

He is obviously trying to bluff his way out of this, but why bother???

He says to send it on, once I have got it back and he will pay postage, I think I will suggest he pays and THEN I will send it on!

Its a bit strange ..... hes not a newbie either BUT possibly thinks I am (new account).

I am not missing anything am I??

Has he got any explanation for how he knows this?

If you've got the tracking number and the website says delivered and has a copy of the signature then its been delivered

If it had been returned to you, the website tracking details would say "returned to sender".

Personally I'd email him a copy of the tracking detail and signature on the website page as proof of delivery.

Sounds like he's trying to pull a fast one.

    Good luck.

He says he has contacted Royal Mail ..... ( I know its nonsense but why bother???)

I have given him the tracking code so he knows I know it was delivered:confused:

So once I get it .... I have to send it back!!

Headcook, I am not sure how is pulling a fast one, but if you can tell me , let me know!

He has left pos feedback, tonight. He did say he would, but still surprised. As I have his money and item ( well its on its way, allegedly).

if it was returned ot sender it would say so on the site.
    RD's are tracked as

    delivered
held at callers office pending collection/redelivery
    returned to sender

edit: also forgot there is a redirection option on track and trace :o
  • Don't really understand what the bloke is saying (buyer not OP!!)- if RM have a signature, thats the end of it - they don't ask you to sign for it then say 'oops, sorry,he didn't address it properly, I'll send it back to him!!' - I suspect the buyer may have had a wee bit much mulled wine lol or, more realistically, he has got confused with another purchase he has made - why would he leave positive FB when he doesn't have the item and has no guarantee you will 'send it back to him when it's been sent back to you!' I think I would just mail him and say it's been signed for therefore it won't be on it's way back to you.

The parcel has arrived back, I shall ask which service he wants to pay for then I shall send an invoice BUT will that incur more paypal fees?

Custardy it was as I suspected, delivered by Royal Mail and then returned by unknown. No red label.

Someone put it into an envelope, first writing on it contact xxxxxx and mailed it back to me, using some sort of business stamp. not franked and not smartstamp, now no one is going to persuade me in a months of Sundays that RM would do that!!

It is very strange ... was the guy on holiday.... fall out with the misses or what??

Meanwhile the new addy he wants me to send it to is just a variation of the old, with an addition of a c/o

Why pretend I had sent it to the wrong address and say RM were returning it??? saving face??

Did you have to sign for it when you got it back?

I'd insist on the buyer paying you for postage again. I once got a recorded delivery item back and insisted on the buyer to pay me for the second dispatch, apparently the buyer had a bit of an unusal address and was aware of this.

I did not have to sign for it, it was just mailed using some sort of business type stamp.

I asked for either 1.40 SF or 4.75 SD , its just arrived and he has sent 1.40, paypal in their very generous nature have deducted 25p , I'll not bother asking to cover this as I charged 2 quid first time around.

But it just shows how much paypal charge!! In case you forget, though I did think, as I asked earlier in this post.

TBH I will be glad to be rid!
