New ceiling required

Hi all

Just in the middle of refurbishing the rooms in my home. Plan was to redecorate the living room which has an old artex ceiling. I think the tradesmen were going to skim it but it has all started falling down unexpectedly. I have been quoted the cost to replace it will be £1000 labour and materials included probably plasterboard with plastering included after. Does this sound about right? London area with a living room approx. 16 metre squared. Pictures of damage below:

£1K sounds a bit cheap for London....
Removing the old lime plaster is a very, very messy job. Taking down the laths and ensuring all the nails are removed is slow & tedious. Putting up plasterboard and skimming doesn't take long in comparison. Probably 2-3 days work for two people.
Do not under estimate the amount of waste generated - I filled two one tonne bulk bags when I did my lounge (also ~16m²) and had plenty of kindling for the winter.
