Morning all, yay my sun is back today ! Yesterday seemed to be delivery day as first my sack of flour arrived and then a delivery of wax for DD. She called in to collect it and explained that her class had wanted to do something for the Ukranians so they decided to make wax melts and sell them. DD will make them ( her children are only 6 years old ) and they will pack them into bags and make the labels. As it's done via school they have to split the profits 50/50 and with the school half they will get games/reading books of their choice for their class. They have already sold £176 in the first 2 days 😲 hence another delivery of wax yesterday. Think DD was going to make a batch at home last night. I have put in an order but I will wait for mine as they have a stall in their Mother's day fayre next week to get ready for.
The wm is chugging away with another load waiting in the wings and I'll hang it out in the sun. I also want to cook a large pot of mince beef in tomato sauce in the slow cooker. Some of that will be used for a cannelloni for tea today and the rest will be portioned up and put in the freezer. We're also waiting for the builder to arrive, his text said he's on his way so I'll be juggling making their teas and coffees too, and with my left foot ..... 🤣
Nels I hope you managed some sleep 🧡
Hope everyone has a good(ish ) day whatever you are doing.
Take care all, stay safe

Just popping back with my cuppa
Nanny - where do you buy the pasta tubes for cannelloni?
Had a right hassle doing dads banking this morning - for some reason it wouldn't let me log in so I had to change his passwords - never mind it's sorted now.

Lovely again-hope it stays that way. I've got some hyacinths coming out in the pots outside so that's cheering me up.Nels sorry to hear your mum is in hospital- hope she got a bed last night and they can sort her out. NRA thinking of you too xDS1 is going for a haircut in a bit , its very near morries so he will drop me there so I can pick up a few bits and ring when he's done. Mind you, the last time I went & DH was picking me up on the way home I met an old neighbour more or less on the way in- she always was a chatterbox and DH rang to say he was outside before I'd hardly got any shopping
I may meet our best friend there, her DH is in hospital after a fall, there is something broken in his leg but he needs a scan.
I like marble cake but it's off limits at the moI made a low carb loaf yesterday, it turned out very odd- started lifting the lid of the bm it was so big, crispy on the outside but when I got it out it kinda collapsed inwards
I couldnt cut it yesterday so done it this morning, the centre is actually very light and soft. I've frozen most of it
That's all for now folks, take care xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)12 -
Morning all. Just has my new seeds through the door. I love looking at seeds and varieties of things online, it's a whole potential world of possibilities. I have some chard, some salsola and some Aztec 'broccoli', I don't know how the last one will pan out but it's fun growing stuff. OH still in bed but he did get up yesterday to play some computer games and a fly by on his X Box, so doing OK so far. He phoned his mum to tell her the bad news because she's having 70th birthday party this weekend, although to be honest, she's the least likely 70 year old I've ever met. I stood on the scales this morning, not a pleasant surprise but not totally awful so I think a mosey on back to a diet is in order. I don't know whether it's the weather or the tablets but I just want to eat everything in sight...I boiled some eggs yesterday for healthier snacking than chocolate bars because the ones I bought for OH to take to work are still here obviously, shouting my name from the shelf every time I go past. Which is even weirder because I'm not usually a fan of chocolate. Cheese, on the other hand....Nanny, how lovely of them to be doing that. Is your builder fixing my car by any chance?
TA, your GDs too...dp1, she's so funny! Izzy, it's definitely worrying times. We had an e-mail yesterday saying our DD was going up by £40 this month, and I've already told OH we'll be paying at least double by October. I'll be waving from the other side of the allotment, or in prison for chopping down our neighbours humungous tree for wood
LH, I have the Readers Digest Cookery Year book, a staple for my father, he tweaked and tweaked the Christmas Cake recipe for years until it was to his satifaction. And the big book of DIY...
Florence, nice looking cake
Nels, hope they've found a her a bed now and can do something. You must be absolutely shattered. Your brother better be stepping up....Take care all, crazy times....

It is a glorious day! Cold wind with a beautiful sun is very inspiring. I've been up to Oban to post off the parcel and return the offending bras, the drive up and down was so lovely, it certainly cheers the spirit. When I came home I went out into the back garden for a bit - did some paper burning and then pruned the clematis which hasn't been done for about three years. Lots of old dead wood is now gone, just in time as there's new growth and buds appearing, one bit is also in leaf. I sat out there until the wind got the better of me, the wee back 'patio' is being enlarged and relaid in early May so that the space is made more useful. No cake here either, I must resist! My walking is still wonky and I'm sure that the excess pounds are no help. I'm seeing my surgeon on Friday so he can check if there's anything mechanically wrong. Meanwhile I can only hobble a few yards. It's a shame I have no washing to go out, it's perfect drying weather.10

Lovely day here too.
London_1 The marble cake is a very old recipe - the magazine clipping is yellow - think it was from Woman's Weekly or Woman's Realm. It is meant to be the old style way of making - cream marge & sugar etc but I do all in one method now - I just add some baking powder. I have always baked this cake in a round tin but as I had a pack of loaf tin liners in my cupboard - used one of them. We have had a slice each for 3 days and the cake is half gone. I used to make this cake a lot when my children were at home as it is so versatile - if you have a tired looking lemon or orange - use it with cocoa for a bake. I plan to make marble cake to take along to lunch/Bible study next week instead of Victoria Sandwich - give them a change. I will send the recipe later.
Finished 12 creme egg covers this morning. School here breaks up on April 1st for the Easter holiday.

dp1 sorry to disappoint but I'm using leftover wraps. I think most supermarkets sell the tubes though, I'm sure I've seen them in Tes*o ( possibly in the world food aisle ) and A*di.

Instead of buying chocolate eggs with loads of unnecessary cardboard and paper to bin I made half a dozen little baskets out of oddments of wool for my two little great granddaughters I will fill them with small chocolaterabbits or eggs and put them in a basket with some layers of yellow paper to make a little nest. The girls are 2 and almost 4 and love little knitted things I may make some knitted ducks to go with them as well. The amount of actual choclate that comes in childrens east eggs isn't a grea deal anyway and I just hate to think of all that wasted cardboard and wrapping paper that end up in landfill sites.
When my youngest granddaughter got married last year although her wedding present was I paid for the photographer to video the day I also knitted her two little mice, one a bride and the other a groom, and she has them on her dressing table ,at Christmas I made four little mice dressed in the same colour as her bridesmaids dresses as part of her Christmas present and she was so pleased. She is 28 bless her but she knows her Nan likes to knit, and appreciates tiny home made things I m hoping that when she startes a family I will be able to knit for her little one as well

PS fingers crossed for the recipe Floreceem, it looked really lovely xx8 -
London_1 - you are spot on about the amount of chocolate in the eggs on sale. I think that I will decorate 100g bars of chocolate as Easter gifts. I have done them in the past for fund raising. I will donate the savings to the SA Ukraine appeal.
Recipe - 4 ozs soft marge + 6 ozs caster sugar + 2 eggs + 5 and a half ozs self raising flour + 1 rounded teaspoon baking powder + 5 tablespoons milk - beat together then put half in another bowl. To one half add - 1 level tablespoon cocoa and to other half of mixture add desired flavour/colouring. I added half a teaspoon peppermint essence and a few drops green food colouring.Put alternate spoonfuls in tin - I ran a skewer through to mix it a bit. I baked at 170 for 50 minutes and when cool dusted with icing sugar.
