I've read your post a couple of times now, and while I can see (laughable) cost comparisons and assumption but you don't seem to mention the fact you'd actually own a house if you bought? You're working out how much it would cost, without acknowledging that at the end of 30 years renting you'd own nothing, whereas after 30 years of a mortgage you'd own a house...with 30 years of house prices increases.
Actually, I'm not sure I can be bothered to respond to the rest of your post reading your other points about inflation and insurance, completely devoid of logic.
Rent for the rest of your life if you believe that is the right thing to do, I'm sure your landlord is grateful to you for paying his mortgage.
It's possibly thread finished after this post.
Plus, I already clarified, probably twice, that I'm ok with the concept of not owning an house, if in the end is always about paying a monthly fee. I don't care what happens in 30y, or how would I feel not having my name and surname on that plot and four walls and rest from the next-gen cheap IKEA stylish outfit.
I'll pay again my fee, as I'm doing now, it's a concept of someone that you won't be able to pay the rent at that age.
Let me tell you one thing, if you are forecasting that for your pension, then it's also your actual situation, which sucks and I'm sorry about it, but it's not valid for everyone.
I manage my life in a way that I can always have what I want, no matter what.
Certainly I can't have everything or everything at top level, I need to compromise too, in fact I'm the only idiot in UK with a simple car but with still a lot of perks and good security level, whereas my smart friends are with rusted BMW that cost same as a Ford KA in maintenance. They break more often than when I was a teenager on a bicycle, or a motorbike showing off and making the police angry.
As a conclusion, they are all broken down, starting from their wallet.0 -

Come on man, yes I know what it is, but it's a scam for one damn simple reason, if you need LISA, then you should not buy, same for the other schemes! It means that you can't afford to buy.
It's a simple concept not mentioned in the complex set of rules of these schemes... Oh really?0 -

Oh really?Do you know what a scam is?By the way it was a valid valid question to ask about whether you know what a LISA is, based on the level of research you appear to be willing/capable of despite your apparent confidence in your own analytical abilities.3 -
I think RobHT is a troll. He’a clearly an idiot with no intention to be serious about things, hence stupid remarks about a savings account…
as if those 2-3 thousand of pounds you get from a LISA account is gonna make any significant difference to a house worth half a million…3 -

What did I say about a saving account? I've never considered to put my money in a saving account, it's pointless, I don't even think I mentioned anything about a saving account in the whole thread.
How 1k per year makes a difference? You just said the same... So how am I trolling on this precise topic?

It's not that easy to get skills that just a few have, I'm already on that boat, but it's just not that simple as you described it.
The IT world is very bad, you can talk to anyone and they would tell you the same, especially in Engineering.
I'm an engineer myself and its much easier than you might think. Next time you want to say "that's not my job", just smile and do it while getting as much out of the experience as you can. Worst case you get to act the martyr and request a more glamorous task in the next sprint.
I don't know how you managed to swing 1 months notice, no one would offer me less than 3. Some want 6 months!0 -

The reason this thread continues isn't because there's an intense debate between two halves of the forum, it's because you're solely and deliberately posting procative and incorrect points of view that invoke reactions from everyone. Like you've just done with me.
Hats off to 2022's biggest troll.Know what you don't7
