No Supplier

Can anyone advise please, I am currently not with any energy suppliers (electricity only) as we in the process of purchasing a property which is supplied by Scottish Power, they will only quote me fixed priced tariffs and not a variable tariff which is extremely high. No other suppliers except Octopus will quote me for a new account. I would rather come away from Scottish Power. Is anyone else in this position and could anyone advise please? I Would greatly appreciate any help, thank you.

Just stay with scottish power on variable rate. No point in changing until something good comes along don't hold your breath).

You probably confused them by ringing them! Just call on the day (calling before is wrong and may cause problems) and let them know you are the new account holder and give a read and above all else ignore any attempts to go onto a tarrif as you do not have to.

If the property is currently supplied by SP then as soon as you flick a light switch they are then your supplier at the deemed capped tariff.  When you move in take meter reads and contact SP and give them your details.  State that you have moved into the property and wish to stay on the capped SVR.  If the phone operator argues that you cannot have that tariff then ask to speak to a supervisor, they must accept you on the deemed capped tariff.  Once that is sorted you can move to another supplier if available.
