British Gas Standard variable Supply regions
On the British gas website you can download the standard variable rates from April https://www.britishgas.co.uk/energy/gas-and-electricity/supply-terms-and-conditions.html. On the spread sheet it has a number of regions. It is not necessarily clear what area we fall under, for example where does Yorkshire end and Northern start? Or are supply areas not necessarily geographical. There is variation between the areas (snip from direct debit electricity payments). Does anyone know how you know what supply area you fall under. I cannot get through to chat to ask them.

Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

MWT said:Quick and easy route via this website...Unfortunately the SSEN website can be very misleading. For example, if you submit a London postcode it says you are supplied by UK Power Networks, Eastern England. You might therefore reasonably conclude that you are in Eastern England and that your new EDF E7 night rate would be 13.91p/kWh.BONG ! The reality is that you're in the London area and the true rate would be 16.32p/kWh, some 17% higher. It's usually much easier and more accurate to look at the leftmost two digits in the lower row of the S number on the electricity bill and then look up the area.

For example, if you submit a London postcode it says you are supplied by UL Power Networks, Eastern England. That's irritating, I did check it before posting, but it probably doesn't help that I really am in the Eastern regionI was looking for a route that didn't require parsing the MPAN, but if that is all there is then so be it...

I managed to get through to them on the phone. I am in Northern but could so easily have fallen under another. Have now used the figures to estimate my yearly usage based on what I used over last three years and set my direct debit accordingly.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016.
