Best way to fill these gaps?

Hi all. We have these annoying gaps at the back of our kitchen cupboards under the cooker hood. Does anyone have any advice on the best way to fill these gaps? Thanks

Ideally, the units need to be taken down and rehung closer to the wall. It looks like who ever did the job originally fixed battens to the wall, and then screwed (?) the units to them. Odd way of doing it unless the walls are lightweight studwork.

The left hand side, you could probably get away with running a bead of white silicone sealant down the gap. The other side, I'd suggest filling the gap with some thin strips of wood and the paint with a gloss white. Alternatively, a length of scotia molding down each side and painted. The stuff comes in different sizes, so you should be able to find something that will hide the gap.
