People's Energy bill dispute

Options
Hi, this is my first post. I got a final statement from People's energy for a prepay electric account. It's from- 4/10/20 to 19/9/21. It says I'm nearly £700 in debt - with a prepay meter! When I checked, they hadn't listed any credits prior to 28/4/21, so nothing I've paid over seven months of winter has been credited to the bill. I've been switched to British Gas. I don't know how to challenge this as there's nobody in PE to speak to any more. This is also stopping me form switching supplier now and I have no desire to stay with BG. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

When did you originally join People's Energy?
... and were you already on a pre-pay meter at that time?
Did you use the same meter key for the payments before 28/4/21?
  • My first email from then was 29th Sept 20 so 4th Oct seems right. I was already on a pre-pay, I swapped supplier as Ecotricity would charge me £70 to swap it ( I've been trying to get rid of the thing for 8 years now). I have used the same meter key for all payments with People's Energy -  I'm still using it now as BG haven't sent a replacement yet, thanks

... and the key you used with People's Energy was a new key that they provided for you?
  • yes it was. I've used the same key. provided by them for the duration.
