Upgrading laptop to W11

I'm looking for a bit of advise please.  I ran the PS health check on my laptop and it's telling me that me laptop is not able to run W11 for the following reasons:

1 TPM 2.o must be supported and enabled
2 Processor isn't currently supported for W11

For info the processor is Intel Core I3 4005U 1.7Hz.  There is nothing wrong with the laptop and it's currently running on W10 - I'm just wondering if it's possible to upgrade it to run W11 or buy a new W11 laptop.  Any advise please.

Windows 11 in the main is Windows 10 with rounded corners. First question would be why do you feel the need for Windows 11?

The TPM side could just be that it is not switched on in the BIOS. Many devices have the capability but it is not switched on by default. Although going by the chip which is a low power chip from the 4th generation, so 2013 it may not have TPM 2.0 and only the TPM 1.0.

There are ways to get around the restriction but to be honest unless there is a real reason for needing it I would stick with 10 until you are ready to replace it.

A technical advisor I spoke too said it might pay to wait out as older laptops may be able to run win11 in the future ?

Either way I wouldnt buy a new laptop based on a PS health check before windows 10 becomes unsupported anyway .

I agree, it's most likely better to wait a while with Windows 10. The free upgrade to Windows 11 ends on October the 5th 2022 and the Windows 10 support finishes in October 2025.

Thank you for all your replies.  The reason I was asking is that if I can make the laptop compatible I will get a free W11 upgrade before time runs out.  W10 has another 3 years of support, so I will need a new laptop then,  but based on your advise, I think I will keep my laptop until then.  It serves my needs for now.

Yes it is possible to update to windows 11. You need to add a couple of entries to the W10 registry first - Google is your friend

However, to save you searching, download the Windows 11 ISO, create a bootable USB stick using RUFUS, then boot from this USB stick

    shift-F12 to get command prompt

    Regedit

    Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup

    Create New key: LabConfig

Create New DWORD: BypassTPMCheck set value '1'
Create New DWORD:  BypasSecureBootCheck set value '1'

Well if the Windows 10 upgrade saga was anything to go by I wouldn't worry much about the October 5 2022 date for Windows 11 :)

Do you remember the time MS said they end the free upgrade for Win 7 user to Win 10?
You can still install Win 10 with Win 7 key now.

By the way, when it is 2025, it probably the time for a new laptop. Your existing laptop will be 10 years old
