  • Thanks everyone, very valid points that I hadn’t thought off.
    Appreciate it.

What inverter are they recommending? If it is the Givenergy 5kw inverter, it has a max DC input of 6500W, but your panels would have a max output of 8360W.
    6.4kWp (16 * 400Wp REC Alpha) facing ESE + 5kW Huawei inverter + 10kWh Huawei battery. Buckinghamshire.

Yes you're quite right, I'm going for a 7.2kW system with two 3.6kW hybrid inverters and two 8.2kW batteries - this gives me an option of charging both fully from the grid (if required) in the cheap 4 hour window and also doubling up to 5kWh demand if needed in the house (instead of 2.5kWh)
    PV total 19.8 kW system:
23 x 420W East/West split over two flat roof areas at 10 degrees inclination.
13 x 390W South spit over two flat roof areas at 5 to 20 degrees inclination.
6 x 390W south wall mounted at 90 degrees inclination.
7 x 390W West wall mounted at 90 degrees inclination.
    2 x 5 kW hybrid inverters
    4 x 9.5 kWh batteries (38 kWh total)

Same as @2nd_time_buyer, we went for optimisers with the cloud connect. Its interesting to see the different outputs from each panel, and how much the optimisers state they have reclaimed, without optimisers the string will only perform based on the lowest panels output. You will need the cloud connect to identify if there is a panel fault or any other issue reducing input to the inverter.

    2 Separate arrays, 7 x JASolar 380w panels (2.66kWp) south facing, 4 x JASolar 380w panels (1.52kWp) east facing, 11 x Tigo optimizers & cloud, Growatt SPH5000, Growatt 6.5kWh Hybrid battery (Go-live 01/12/21) - Additional reporting via Solar Assistant.

On the other hand you could just bung up a couple of extra panels, to get the same output as an optimised array, for far fewer squids.

If you have the space and orientation.
