Be aware of EDF billing when transferred on SoLR

As an ex Zog customer along with 6 friends and family who's accounts I monitor, I was concerned that despite giving monthly Gas readings to EDF, that no bills were being issued.

Rang the CS line to be informed that for D/Direct customers, the billing regime is just twice yearly 6 months apart, however there is a term that states that EDF should issue a bill showing transferred credits as soon as after the take over they have all the information - Been 3 months so far and still no bills !

As mentioned I monitor a lot of bills and part of the process is to calculate and record how many Kwh's are used each day, and with monthly billing a pattern emerges which when broken requires investigation- In the last 4 years this has picked one failing freezer and two rogue thermostats on hot water tanks - So to do a proper job now I will have to ask everyone for a monthly reading and work the daily Kwh consumption along with all the other figures to ensure that the customer is not falling into excessive debt or credit

We have no choice with a SoLR transfer, but if given an option I would not  have touched the EDF terms with barge pole, particularly because they will do monthly billing, but only on a pay on receipt of bill tariff with  higher prices

There is an existing thread of over 100 pages on the Zog and EDF saga..   Zog produced final bills in December.  I had my Zog credit today.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Re 6 monthly billing - seems crazy at the moment with the possibility of the cap being raised even more often. I can see a lot of customers going on payment plans if they suddenly produce huge bills in June !!
  • If you, your family and friends can afford it, change your payment method to Direct Debit Whole Amount Monthly.

It will mean having to enter readings if you do not have smart meters.

Then you pay for exactly what you have used, in arrears.
