Solar panel tariff

Options
Having installed solar panels with a battery I thought I was going to be able on a better tariff to charge the batteries overnight, these apparently are exclusive for people purchasing electric vehicles, is there an option for change to use a better overnight charging option out there?

Economy 7 is probably as good as it gets for this, but to be honest the real aim is to charge from your excess solar when possible, but I know over winter that isn't usually an option.

Depending on which provider it is, they may ask for proof in the form of V5 etc. and of course the other small issue of not waiting to commit fraud...

  • Same situation here, solar PV and battery going in next month, need to wait and see what the energy patterns look like but will probably want the option to charge it off-peak overnight. I can't find much tariff info online right now and most quote tools have been taken down. Looks like most (all?) of the newer tariffs require you to own an EV. I'm assuming I'll need to phone round and see if any will do EV tariffs with a home battery instead of an EV  or get economy 7 quotes failing that. Not going to do that until they're installed though, please share if you have any success!
  • The latest iteration of time-of-use tariffs suggests to me that Octopus has woken up to the fact that it needed to deter non-EV users from opting from Go and Go Faster. The peak cost is very expensive.
  • We have had panels and battery for just over a month now. Looking for Economy 7 style tariff. We are with Ovo currently and they require not only an EV (on the cards but not just yet!), but also DUAL FUEL...which here in rural Norfolk has NEVER been an option!
