Cash app

Not really sure where I should have posted this but…
I’ve bought some item and used the cash app, now one of the sellers has decided not to send it/ignoring me. Where do you stand with requesting money. It seems they’re middle men and their advice is to contact the seller and nothing else.

Will the bank support it? Ive agreed the payment etc

I assume you've done all that they suggest in their help page on cancelling  a payment?  At https://cash.app/help/gb/en-gb/3051-cancel-a-payment

    Which says:

Cash App to Cash App payments are instant and usually can’t be canceled. To be sure, check your activity feed to see if the payment receipt is displaying a cancel option.

The recipient can also refund your payment. Ask them to:

    1. Tap the Activity tab on their Cash App home screen
    2. Select the payment in question
    3. Tap . . .
    4. Select Refund
    5. Press OK

Finally, you can use the Request button on your Cash App home screen to ask for the funds back.

That would seem to be all you can do, if I'm reading it correctly. As they do stress, repeatedly, on their help pages, that payments "usually can’t be canceled."  It's unclear what "usually" means.

Cash app do have a help page about scams (which this may be) at https://cash.app/help/gb/en-gb/6482-recognize-scams where the most relevant point (in the bit about buying pets) is advising not to pay until you've seen the goods.  Not helpful if the goods are being shipped of course.

I doubt a bank would get involved in a dispute with the seller as the payment was via a third party, but others may have more advice on his.

Basically Cash App isn't meant for this sort of use - not for purchasing stuff. It has no buyer protection, and is meant more for for friends and family transfer rather than purchases.  Reviews of Cash App stress this, this one for instance; https://reallyneedcash.com/does-cash-app-have-fraud-protections which warns:

    Cash App Buyer Protection

Cash App has no buyer protection. The payment app is not designed for buying items and merchandise online, rather it is meant to be a payment option for a small amount with friends, families, and acquaintances.

In the case that you get scammed, chances are you will never get a reply from them. It will leave your bank as an option and if you use your bank account or debit card, you will probably be screwed unless you used your credit card which can probably help you recover your money with a completed credit card chargeback.

However, cash apps might just lock your account because they believe you will become a risk and a liability to them.

So, if a buyer [probably means seller] recommends you to not use PayPal and pay with Cash App, my advice would be to not do business with it.

Yep, it doesn't help that the post before yours was obviously an AI/bot post resurrecting a 2.5 year old thread.

And now it looks like I've resurrected it 🤣

But yeah it closed 15th September & you have to transfer any balance out by October 15th so not long left.

CashApp alternatives?, PayPal & VibePay I think are the only 2 that don't require people knowing your bank account details
