Hello
Had a baby last year. Baby is approaching 3 months only. We only just informed child benefits and they added our baby onto the child benefit claim (it's our 2nd baby so already get CB for the first child).
Anyone know if CB will backpay from birth or will it only go so far backwards? It took 6 weeks to get the birth certificate and tried to call CB helpline a few times to inform them but gave up after being on hold for 10+ mins.

This says "Child Benefit can be backdated for up to 3 months from the date you applied."

You will need to be prepared to wait a bit longer on the telephone line to make the backdate request.Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.0 -
Ok thanks.I think they added our baby and may have done the backdate too. I'll check the statement and see if they have backdated the payments or not. If not I guess I'll get back on the phones.0

they automatically backdated the pay for us after adding our daughter in case anyone is reading in future.
