Right to buy going through also private house purchase going through (cash from inheritance)If the house sale completes before the right to buy do I lose the right to buy?(as a first time buyer it's best to buy the private house first as it saves £5,000 stamp duty)Not interested in any criticism thanks

" private house "
So are you going to live in Both houses ?
I think you need to read the Terms and Conditions attached to your Right To Buy documents.

isnt this against the right to buy termsDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.1

As above it depends what the OP means by "private house purchase" and what the RTB property is going to be used for.0

You can own a private house and use Right To Buy on a social/ council house, I've seen it before. I think it might differ with Right to Acquire. However, surely the OP would be going from 1 house to 2 houses anyway, therefore liable to the extra stamp duty as well.1

Even a decent solicitor who you are paying for advice should point out risks, errors, mistakes.
Have you read, carefully, all the right to buy documentation? Then read it again? Does it mention anything at all about consequences of owning other property?
Looking forward to your helpful responses.6 -

You either buy the right to buy house then the other house and pay the higher price for stamp duty or you don’t buy your council house.3

well, all you experts have got it wrong........right to buy gov advice tells me catagorically that you do not lose yr right to buy if you purchase a private house first.....the only stipulation is that the right to buy property remains yr main dwelling until it is bought.you can move out the day after.hope this helps someone.1

the saving for me as a first time buyer is about £16,000 in stamp duty if the right to buy is the 2nd purchase0

But if that is the case, then surely the private property that you intend to buy first isn't your main residence at the point you buy it, and so would not be eligible for the FTB SDLT relief ?
