Sorry, what don't you understand? If a TV box doesn't have a disk drive it cannot be used to record programs. A cheap way for the box makers to provide recording functionality is for the customer to have to provide the recording media e.g. USB stick/USB disk drive etc.

A USB stick (or formatted USB stick) is a bit of hardware that holds/contains/stores music, documents, pictures, and in your case TV recordings. Some TV boxes have this hardware self-contained with the TV box but, saving a bit money, others require the customer to provide the USB stick. Do you need to see an example of a USB stick?0

Thanks Grumpycrab, if I understood the link, I wouldn’t have asked the question on here. People come on here to ask questions. I don’t understand USB sticks. Maybe you wouldn’t if you were approaching 80 and not familiar with technology. You’re name is very apt.grumpycrab said:Sorry, what don't you understand? Recording on TalkTalk TV - TalkTalk Help & SupportPlease don't go down the "I'm 80 and everybody my age knows nothing" route because you're just asking to be roasted.Anyway it wasn't clear from your original post what part of the system you didn't quite get. The USB stick (or pen drive or external hard drive or some similar external storage) you just plug it in and the box treats it as like a hard drive. Its not the same and its not as fast but it gets treated as one. However there are other solutions if recording is what you want, because all Talktalk TV Is a souped up Freeview box with a few extra whistles on it.0
