Advice on moving from Virgin and service availability

Options
hi

i currently live in a flat which has Virgin fibre optic cables and i have always been on Virgin Media, having previously heard someone say there is no Sky dish in the block (though i have never confirmed this).  There is a phone line and a seperate Virgin media box where the internet/tv cables get plugged into.  The a TV aerial port.

When i put my postcode into SKy for example, it says they can service me, but how can i check for sure?

Currently i am being ripped off by Virgin but unsure if i can just use their broadband for £20 p/m and then use a Freeview box for normal channels such as BBC and other free sky channels?  How do i know whether i will get the service?

Otherwise Virgin are offering me M100 internet and big bundle TV package for £31, but the tv channels are just those available on freeview so is it worth the extra £10pm?

thanks!

Answered on your other post.  Freeview just comes off the building’s aerial which you should have a normal aerial point for.  You just plug a normal aerial lead from your tv into your socket in wall.  If virgin offer you their broadband at £20 then that’s a good price.  You can then decide what you want to watch, if you want more use the streaming services, now tv, Disney, Netflix, prime etc.  The £60 you had for sports wasn’t a rip off by way.  The £120 it’s going up to is however.

thanks, i will get a freeview box and test if it works, but thinking about it the box costs £100+ and with Virgin i get to keep the current box and there will be no further changes, so i may try for the £31.

You don’t need a box to watch freeview. You will need some kind of device to record programmes, however most things are on catch up now anyway.  It comes via the aerial on your roof.
