Gas/ electric meter
I was with Pure planet but it went bust and they put me with Shell. I want a more environmentally friendly company that I can afford. Could anyone recommend plz?
I need to get a meter reader installed but would it need to be with new provider please or if I get it installed by Shell do I have to stay with them?
thanks

- Ecotricity, https://www.ecotricity.co.uk/
- Good Energy, https://www.goodenergy.co.uk/
- Green Energy UK, https://www.greenenergyuk.com/

Meter reader? Do you mean smart meter, or in-home display? What sort of meters do you have at the moment?

If you get a Smart Meter installed by Shell you do not have to stay with them.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1

Virtually all energy companies have their Standard Variable Rate as the cheapest available, but not being offered to people who switch from other suppliers. Only available to people who move into a property or people who are transferred across from another supplier who went bust, as you were. All the SVRs are set to the OFGEM cap so a switch to another supplier because they are more environment friendly will mean taking a fixed rate considerably more expensive than the SVR. Only you can decide which of your preferred suppliers (preferred on environmental grounds) is offering a tariff you can afford.1
