Looking for garden tips on our newly moved into home. The garden is split into two and pictured is the second half.
The two tree's are TPO on them, so they're staying, but what can I do cheaply, that could make this space not need hours of work at the weekends / get overrun. Longer-term we'd look to do something more creative and fun.
This is eye-level, so a decent slope on it.

Thanks

Cheapest would be to flog off some of the bottom to a neighbour if you don't want a garden that big.

ThanksTPOs on those trees, they look plain, is one a silver birch?I thought TPOs were on large or exceptional trees. "A Tree Preservation Order is an order made by a local planning authority in England to protect specific trees, groups of trees or woodlands in the interests of amenity."Is there anything easier to maintain than a lawn?

It depends to a large extent on personal preference. But I think probably the cheapest and simplest option would be to tidy it up, remove things like - what's that in the bottom right hand corner of the pic, is it an old tree stump or the remains of a flower bed or something? - then just leave it as plain lawn. That'll not take much looking after, especially if you're not wanting a bowling green
Just a run over with a mower once a week when it's growing, job's a good-un.As Slinky says, you could investigate selling some of it off if you don't want such a big garden - but you'd definitely need to speak to a solicitor on that, make sure boundaries are legally registered etc., and I'm sure there are lots of other considerations. It's no big problem - a place I used to live, my neighbour had bought a fair chunk of land from his neighbour, it's not an uncommon situation. But obviously you'd want to be sure that all the legal stuff was taken care of properly.0 -

The one on the left looks like a fruit-bearer... even if there is no TPO it would be worth seeing what it/they produce before removing them.0 -
Just mow it for now. If you aren't going to be using it for a few years I would be tempted to turn the bottom third into a wild flower patch.
Can you fit a hammock between the trees 😁0 -

The homeowner has put in several applications to prune out some overhanging branches - Refused each time.Silver birch and sycamore are not really suitable trees to have in a small garden...Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

I have nothing to add except I have garden envy! (A good third of that would be my veggie plot with some chickens).

I'd take some of the grass out for less maintenance. your garden is big - big enough for a good size garden room at the end of the garden if you could make use of the space, or a large social area with BBQ, patio/decking, seating etc. It looks very uneven so imagine levelling it would be an expensive job in time and money. Maybe look to do something whereby you landscape it to use the slopes, with easy maintenance plants like heathers and ferns.
