Clutch slip on recent car purchase. What are my rights?

Hi all,
I purchased a used vehicle from a local VW dealer in January. Really happy with the car and have covered around 1200 miles in it since.
Car is a 2017 17 plate VW Tiguan 2.0 TDI SEL 4motion.
Over the last couple of weeks I've noticed that the clutch has been slipping slightly. Not excessively but enough to smell it occasionally. It wasn't noticeable on test drive.
The car has supposedly come with a 2 year VW used car warranty but I'm guessing there will be small print to say that clutch isn't covered.
Due to the short time I've had the car have I got any come back with VW to get the clutch changed?
Thanks

Clutches are an item that is expected to wear. A five year old car might well need a new clutch if has been driven around town, or by someone that has been in the habit of riding the clutch (resting their foot on the clutch while driving instead of moving it to one side).
I don't think any the Consumer Right Act 2015 would regard this as a fault. It's wear and tear of something that is supposed to wear out over time, and I don't think the dealer will have made any promise that the clutch would last any specific amount of time. Best thing to do is to ask the dealer for a big discount on a new clutch and keep the car for long enough to make your money back.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -
