PreAction Ltd
I've had the e-mail below today from a company called Utility Bidder. I've looked back and I only have one single e-mail from them from 2019 saying they are trying to switch me to another supplier. That's it, nothing else, no contract, nothing saying that they couldn't switch for any reason, nothing. They didn't switch anything for me as far as I am aware!!
Unsure what to do, it seems they are asking other people for £750 per meter!!!
Just joined a Facebook group "Utility Alliance / Preaction Court Proceedings" but there are very few members.
Any help appreciated.
David.

Good Afternoon,
We are contacting you as our records show that whilst Utility Bidder arranged an energy supply contract for you that contract was not honoured (for the whole or part of the contract period).
This renders you liable to make a payment to Utility Bidder. We have arranged for PreAction Limited, a resolution agency, to deal with this matter on our behalf.
PreAction having been provided with the relevant information and documents will contact you shortly seeking to resolve this issue. We strongly advise you to engage with PreAction.
Please note that as this matter is now in the hands of PreAction all contact in future should only be with PreAction unless you hear from us otherwise.
If you wish to reach out to them first, please quote your reference number : (xxxxxxxxx & xxxxxxxxx) and email enquiries@preaction.co.uk or call 0191 501 8015
Kind Regards

Don't pay them and just ignore them. They will go away, we didn't pay them and they went away.
They have no authority on money collecting .... they offered us a " deal ", i couldn't stop laughing at them.

Hello, I've just had a similar experience with Utility Bidder / PreAction.
Do you have any further info on how you moved forward with this?
Is the 'ignore them' suggestion still good advice?0 -
Hi I am in a similar situation, preAction are saying then need a response or they are taking me to court and also adding 8% on top of the balance. What was your outcome?

Im in a similar situation with the above comments, has anyone got any up to date outcome on what preaction did in the end to chase for money?0

If they send something that is delivered through your letterbox, then time to worry. Emails are not an accepted method of progressing debt chasing though, so right now, I'd echo the suggestion above in the thread that just ignoring is the best approach. I waited for this application but it never arrived and I've heard nothing since.1

Thanks for your relies so far, much appreciated. If this is any help in my matter my business was sold recently and I'm a limited company. None of my past Utility companies even have my home address or my mobile number to be honest i think.0

I just got the same email and wonder how many people fall for this, hence my bothering to reply! Firstly, no court in the land would accept an unaddressed email, it needs your business name at the very least stated or a nominated person within the business. Secondly, the court expects letters to be posted and some proof of the business residing there and receiving the letter! Thirdly, Limited Companies have their details listed online, anyone can get that information! Fourthly, you apply online for utility bidder, anyone can fill in an online form with the details they found online! Lastly, even if you did apply through 'UB' and signed up, the contract starts once the Utility company transfers you over - so it would be the Utility Company chasing unpaid bills....Not 'UB' and IF you've proof you paid for said utility then obviously they've not transferred you!
I could go on BUT this is a laughable scam which relies upon you replying and they will try to trip you up before leading you on! IGNORE IT!

I am being asked for £1164.89 from Utility Bidder as they couldn't move my Gas supplier as I was still in contract - no one above has actually said if they were taken to court and what the outcome was ?0

i had the same email, thought it was a scam. Phoned this morning and it would seem that it has more to do with EDF changing accounts than me (i haven't done anything wrong). I do wonder how many people are panicked into paying the £900.00 though.0
