Pure Planet ongoing woes

I moved house in October 2020. I tried to move my existing supplier, but there was a debt to Pure Planet on the property. They flatly refused to let me use my existing supplier. I refused to accept the debt, as it was from prior to my occupancy. I tried calling on and off for months. They sent occasional emails saying to sign in to my account. I tried repeatedly, and have screenshots showing the site refusing to accept my email address... The same one that they contact me on, and the only one that I have. The smart meter has never worked, ie I cannot see any readings or usage information from it. They are now chasing a large balance, for which I have no billing data at all. All they are offering is a discount for early settlement. Can they actually chase for an unsupported amount?

With effect from 17 October 2021 Pure Planet ceased to supply energy. When you moved in in October 2020 you became one of their customers, if they were already supplying the property. Now you are a customer of Shell Energy. You are not responsible for any debt from before you moved in, but it is important that you have meter readings from that time so you can justify your usage since you moved in. What meter readings have you got? What bills have you received? What payments have you made? What contact have you had with Shell Energy?
