Laminate Worktop…22mm v 38mm

I am trying to decide between two laminate worktops, the laminated chipboard type, not the solid ones. I prefer the 22mm one but am not sure if that will be too flimsy/hard to fit or whether I should stick with the reliable 38mm. Both have square edges if that makes a difference! Has anyone had 22mm and is it wearing well, any drawbacks etc? Thank you!

As long as the worktop is well supported, 22mm would be fine if you prefer the look of it. If part of the worktop was going to be unsupported (like for a breakfas bar), I think 38mm would be better.
As for wear - it all depends on the qaulity of the laminated finish rather than the core. If it's a decent laminate, it doesn't matter if it's wrapped around a 22 or 38mm core really.0 -
A hob, particularly an induction hob, will likely be thicker than 22mm, so will stick through it underneath, meaning you often can't have a shallow draw, e.g. for your kitchen utensils, under the hob. Not a major issue if you know ahead of time.0

You need 38mm for Gas Hobs and 26mm for electric hobs.
its what stopped us getting a really nice looking 22mm worktop from worktop express.

Thank you everyone….the hob issue has clinched it! I have planned a thin hidden drawer under the hob and I really do not want to lose that.0
