Which TV to buy?

Options
Hi all,

Costco have Hisense models at brilliant prices. I've ordered the 65a7gqtuk but now I'm getting my head turned by the 65U7qftuk.

Anyone with knowledge able to steer me towards the better of the two?

Both around £480 each, so brilliant for a 65" ULED/QLED

    What's the difference in speciation.

How do they stack up against other brands for important stuff like motion, HDR etc
  • Hisense are quite well regarded in the budget tv world. If it comes with a 5 year warranty then you’re pretty safe.

Dont fall for the QLED ULED marketing hype. They are still backlit LCD TVs and suffer from all the same problems backlit LCD TVs have always had.  The xLED marking is there to pretend it's similar technology to OLED.

Spend the extra and get an OLED, the difference is worth every penny, they are also more energy efficient, only lighting the pixels they need, not having a chuffing big backlight and trying to blank out pixels with a LCD.   Also worth bearing in mind, only LG make OLED panels, all other brands buy panels from LG, so best stick to buying from source.  LGs WebOS is pretty good.

If you are tight on budget, last year's LG OLED will still totally blow away anything from Samsung's QLED range.

Final word of warning. The demo scenes shown in showrooms are deliberately chosen to show the best of a TV.  The TV will be in Demo mode, which sets the TV to show the demo video in the best way possible, there will be no fast panning or sports.   You can guarantee your TV will never look as good as it did in the showroom.

Ask to show broadcast TV, sports if there is any.   The response rate of a OLED will again destroy anything LCD based.

Last point is upscaling SD and HD content to a 4K panel. Some are far batter than others. If the TV has apps, open some stuff on YouTube app and look to see how we some older content looks

I have both an LG OLED and a Samsung QLED, Using terms like 'Destroy' and 'Blow away' are in themselves hype from an OLED only owner.
There is nothing wrong with choosing either for your lounge. However, once you start moving to the lesser brands then, as stated something better from Samsung or LG's last year range will be better.
If you are just moving into the world of 4K then the Hisense will probably give you a fair amount of joy....Everything is relative in TV land and budget will dictate good and poor.
At the end of the day it's what you personally perceive as good. I've been to view some that the owners think have a fantastic picture and need to sit on my hands and say nothing, while my eyes bleed, but, they are happy.... ;):)

Once you start getting image retention on an OLED, if you don't nurse it, the alternatives hold up.
