Fork handles? Nope, I need an 'ose

Hi all.

I bought a hose with various attachments the other day and for the life of me can't figure out how to get water to flow into it. I made a video as it's easier than describing the problem. You'll see that water runs from the tap and into the attachment okay, but doesn't flow into the hose itself - it just squirts back out the top.

Am  I doing something daft or have I purchased a dud?

I know nothing of this type of hose, but is there a similar fitting on the other end of the hose and you're connecting the wrong end?

A jubilee clip round the hose where it pushes over the fitting will stop the water squirting out. These things usually have a clamping ring that you tighten up round the hose instead of having to use a jubilee clip..

If you watch a few seconds into the video you'll spot this strange little sticky out bit. This is moveable and pushes up into the hose connector when the hose is pushed on, seemingly blocking the flow. Any idea what it's supposed to do because it seems to simply act as a water blocker!

that fitting goes on the other end of the hose where your spray head plugs in. Its a valve to stop back flow of water back into the mains water pipe.

Tony (or anybody) I've numbered the parts. Are you able to tell me which part goes where? E.g. part 1 goes on the tap, part 2 goes on the end of the 'ose, stick part 3 in your ear and twist hard (for being so ignorant)...and so on? I'd be much obliged.

As Tony has said #3 should be at the far ( from the tap) end of the hose
Its there so you can unplug #4 and the water should stop flowing  out of #3 allowing you to change to a different type of  #4  (without need to  go back and turn tap off)

  • Number 3 has a small thread on that nobbly bit but the black neck of number 4 has no thread and is too narrow for number 3 to go in. Below is how I picture it working, but 3 cannot go inside 4 the way I have it set up.
