Eon next transactions on account

Hello

This may be a really daft question but I have transactions on my eon account showing money being taken from my account before the bill is due.  This appears random and only looks to have started since my fixed tariff finished at the end of January and I went onto the cap.  Eg 11 march gas 18.81 out 24 Feb gas 24 out  29 Jan 2.49 electric 28 Jan 0.90 electric.

Would be grateful if anyone knew what these charges are for and why I am paying them  when my bill isn't due until end of April?

EON NEXT charge monthly.

Monthly direct debit payments and billing are the norm these days. The two dates don't usually coincide. If you want an up-to-the minute balance just enter a meter reading. I put in a reading, on my account yesterday, and the amended statement was ready with the hour.

Thanks everyone. Think I have figured it out even though I have a "smart" meter I have to manually submit readings they are also estimating them a day or two after as well as being done by a meter reader (not sure how as both are behind locked doors!) So there are a lot of readings instead of just the monthly ones I submit

I will keep an eye on it as it's expensive enough without being overcharged!;
