Solar panel installation - "local authority scheme"?

Not up to date on this but we have had solar panels for many years now, what some people called “Rent a Roof” so we had no outlay but we get free daytime electricity when they produce enough power. Our house gets loads of sun and the panels face roughly South West. I do all the washing, tumble drying, hoovering and had electric heaters on in the winter when the meter was running backwards.0

Dont think they do these anymore, and they can be a nightmare for selling your house depending on the agreement.Pennylane said:Not up to date on this but we have had solar panels for many years now, what some people called “Rent a Roof” so we had no outlay but we get free daytime electricity when they produce enough power. Correct - these all but dried up when the Feed In Tariff closed to new applicants. The FIT meant all that lovely electric Pennylane was gobbling up during the day was still being paid to the owner of the solar panels - Win-Win for home owner and Solar Panel fitter. However, there has to be protections for the fitter, who made the ~£15k ish investment on Pennylane's roof, that any house sale allowed for the solar power generation to continue.ashe said:

Personally, I would lick my lips if someone told me the house I liked would be getting free electric during the day until the end of FIT period.0
