I'm also happy in my main road house.  It is set back from the road and we have plenty of parking.  I love it.  I've lived in quiet roads before but there always seemed to be issues with parking, kids everywhere and their balls, overlooking and lack of privacy.

I would choose a detached house over a semi, but I don't like that plot that the detached house occupies.  The house next door is incredibly close and completely overlooks the property.  The garden is very small for the size of the house and I think it could be a dealbreaker in the future when you come to sell, though of course a main road position is also a dealbreaker for many people.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences and suggestions, it was indeed a mix of responses.

We have offered on both the properties, preferably slightly more on the 3 bed semi considering big garden and scope for extension, also on the detached, as Both tick the first 3 priorities for us Price, Location, Parking space.

    Thanks
