Turn Freezer off at Night?

Probably better off turning the freezer setting down to its lowest. My ancient fridge/freezer consumers 23W for the fridge and 100-ish for the freezer but I have not monitored how often it switches on. I have a new freezer for extra capacity and will eventually compare the two (the fridge be can be run independently of the freezer). BTW, letting food thaw out before cooking will save much more than turning off the fridge, reducing cooking times (but make sure it is safe to let the food thaw out) and thus electric or gas bill.

I did this in my last E7 home. The FF would kick on when i opened the door at 7pm to make dinner, and continue to run for the rest of the evening. So i used a plug-in timer to switch it off at 7pm and back on at 00:30.EssexHebridean said:If he really wants to save energy then moving the freezer into the house would possibly do so. (Or alternatively, on an Economy 7 rate, turn the thing off for the final 8 hours of the peak rate!)0
