Topping up electricity meter

I have £1.60 left on my key meter with SSE. I was gob smacked as I only topped up 2 weeks ago. However I accepted the situation and went to top up again. I was refused the top up as the company I am with are not accepting top ups until Monday. !!!!!!. Could someone explain what is going on. I will go out and buy paraffin for my lamps and I have plenty of fuel for the fire.
