If your prepayment meter isn't a smart meter load it up with as much credit as possible to stay on the pre April rates as all suppliers, except Scottish Power, are honouring credit put on before 1/4/22 as bought before that date.
Yes, this is what I'm going to be doing! Thanks for this and I hope others see this, too.

I think so, yes. Really, thanks kindly.

So, just an update which may help you, too. I called one of the suppliers that was listed on the MSE comparison tool and the figures are totally different. The ones on the tool are significantly lower than what I was quoted AND this is before the price hike, as they've said they don't know what their standing & unit rates will be just yet. This is British Gas btw.

For me, I think I may just stay where I am until things are settled and companies set their rates.

Just to be clear, Scottish Power seem to have said they are going to adjust billing retrospectively, the others have not said anything one way or the other.
There has been one report of British Gas auto-refunding large tops-ups recently which would defeat the attempt to store a significant balance, but it is not clear if that was an isolated case.

Are you saying that the company quoted different rates for the same tariff? Or were they only giving you rates for different higher tariffs?

They said that the rates they were quoting me were their lowest tariff/rates for both standing and units. The rates they quoted were different to what's on the MSE comparison tool. I can give you the rates that I see on the tool vs what I was quoted, if that helps you at all. And, let me know if I'm not being clear.

In my case the rates quoted at the end of February were correct and I'm mid-switch to one of them.
