Does anyone Use the Halifax mobile banking app on an iPod touch device? I don’t have or want to buy an iPhone ...
I know you wouldn’t be able to call them via the app - but can it still be used for all other features?

I use the Halifax mobile banking app on an iPad. I think the iPod touch is just a “very small iPad?”
should be fine as long as you carry a phone for all those confirmation texts.0 -
Thanks
yes when I google it does say an iPad is ok - but can’t find any info about the iPod touch...
anybody use one?0 -
what operating system does it run ie what version ?0

The latest iPod touch (7th gen) can run the latest iOS (15). Technically the iPad operating system is not the same, it runs iPadOS due to the different UI but at its core has many common elements.0

You're far from alone in that, but other mobile operating systems are available! As highlighted fairly frequently on here, the competition in the Android phone market ensures that low entry-level prices are an option for those wanting a functional smartphone without paying the Apple premium....ranciduk said:I don’t have or want to buy an iPhone ...2 -
Halifax states on their website for apple devices if you have a compatible iPhone or ipad you can download their app from the App Store. No mention of iPod. https://www.halifax.co.uk/aboutonline/download-apps.htmlThe only bank I could see that actually states their app is compatible with the iPod is Barclays0

If you're on a budget forget apple devices and get an Android phone, far cheaper than an iphone - unless you go top-range, but no need to do that if you are happy with a budget handset.0

The Apple premium, at least on smartphones is a fallacy. Samsung charge just as much for their flagship and the SE isn't at all unreasonably priced given it has reasonably up to date innards.eskbanker said:

I definitely think their laptops are a bit much in pricing though, although the M1s seem to be pretty impressive.1 -
It's clearly not a fallacy - the fact that one of the leading Android suppliers offers high-end products at a similar price point to Apple in no way negates the fundamental point that there are numerous other manufacturers (Nokia, Alcatel, Motorola, etc, as well as lower-spec Samsung models of course) whose cheap hardware runs essentially the same software, so if you go to a site like Argos, for example, there are about 70 Android handsets priced below the cheapest iPhone SE, starting at about 10% of its price.FeaturelessVoid said:

There is obviously an argument that you get what you pay for, and I'm not trying to compare features, etc, but simply observing the inconvenient truth that competition in the Android market results in far wider customer choice than is available if going down the Apple route....4 -
Sorry, it is not a fallacy.FeaturelessVoid said:

There are hundreds of models of brand new Android smart phone with up to date innards that are far far cheaper than a brand new Apple phone. Some mega cheap if you're happy with budget brands. There is no need to buy Samsung. And definitely no need to buy Apple.
Most will do everything people need to do with a smartphone. They may not have the best camera, the fastest chip etc, but they do the jobs needed, easily.
The need (and this bit is probably alien to iphone buyers) is to research the range available (which is big - see the listings here) and find the model that does what you need for your budget.1
