Take a photo of your meter when your fix ends
Hi my firm been with see for 30 years.
Are fix deal finished on 31 Jan 22
Back in December are meter was red by see and when bill came it was unusual low £140.00 I thought maybe we had built a credit over the summer. In January we decided to swap to British gas as they had a cheaper fix and moved over to them on 22 of Feb.
Just had are final bill there calculations for 18 days while we still in the fix we used 440 units and for the 22 days out from fix until we moved to British gas we used 2,378 luckily I had taken a photo of the meter around date we moved to British gas.
My calculations are the larger unit used was before the switch and we had 360 units used since are fixed finished and when we switched.
I wonder if my low bill in December was attempt to have a large amount of units built up to overcharge us when we moved?
I have contacted see about it.
So my advice is if you are not on a smart meter make sure you take a photo of your meter on the last day of your fix!

@garytabs Excellent advice - and indeed this is also true of the upcoming rate changes that many of us will be victims of from April 1st - ANYONE whose tariff will change on that day should take and submit meter readings as late as possible in the day on 31st March - and even if on smart meters you would be well advised to manually read them that day. Taking photos of the meters is also a good plan.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
