Ok so I had some debts written off medically. So my question is can they still mark as default every month. So basically they are marking it on credit file as default but not removing it is that them being funny or is that the correct procedure..

Yes, that's correct.
Writing off a debt is just an internal accounting practice. It has no bearing on the existence of the debt.

Writing off a debt just means they agree not to chase you any more for it, the debt still exists on their system somewhere. Plenty of people found out what that means with PPI complaints when banks offset refunds against old, unpaid debts that were previously written off.6 years after the default, they will disappear0
