hello everybody
I have an ongoing issue with the energy crises about to get worse in April.
my problems started in December 2019 when i had a problem with my electricity meter went wrong and i was unable to provide a reading . with some back and forth emails i received a date of 27th Feb 2020. for the renewing my meter . no one showed up ! After numerous emails and apologies i had another date of 1st April 2020, the engineer arrived and fitted the new meter which turned out to be the incorrect meter as i was on a economy 7 tariff and the meter only gave the one reading .
I now received monthly reminders to submit a meter reading which i was unable to do ! then i received an email 15 June 2020 saying my monthly payment would go up to cover not submitting a reading .Finally in September I had another email asking for photos of the meter and to include the serial numbers. another engineer was booked for the 26th October 2020 to change the meter again.
now this still didnt read correctly and after more emails i was told that the wrong meter was fitted again and was set up incorrectly so was still only given one reading. this case was now registered as a compliant on the 14th Dec 2020.
17th December 2020 i was told there was a problem that the meter was only reading one tariff at the highest rate and not the two rates ( well we already new this )
7th Jan 2021 i was told the meter had not been updated correctly
13th Jan 2021 the metering team had said they had had several of these meters not given the second reading and they are working on a fix
25th Feb 2021 i was informed of a appointment on the 3rd March 2021 to fix the issue
now i get monthly reminders to send in my readings which i do and thought all was ok
3rd September 2021 I used uswitch to change tariff to a fixed rate and had a confirmation email from Shell as follows "Good news, we’re pleased to confirm you’ve updated your tariff to Energy September 2023 v2. This guarantees you’ll be protected from energy price rises until 30 September 2023. There’s no need to do anything, your tariff has been automatically updated from 3 September 2021."
22nd Feb 2022 i received a notice saying about price rises in April 2022 and telling me i am on " This means that the amount you pay for your energy is changing on Friday 1 April 2022 when you move to our new Flexible 7 Economy 7 tariff."
alarm bells started ringing I am on a fixed rate not a flexible 7 , i have been in contact with shell again about this and they are telling me as the meter is still on the variable econ7 the fixed rate will not come into play . Again this has now escalated to a complaint Reference ID: 11228509 and they have 21 days to fix the issue .
I also found out that they have been taking the monthly amount out of my account but it is just sitting in my Shell account and the bill is not getting paid as they can not get a reading (around £1200 )
I feel liking I am going to get stitched with the increases in April even though I locked into a fixed rate
