Quick question about Barclaycard - have they ditched the Secure Messaging facility? I can no longer find it when I log on. Thanks.

It’s been gone for quite a while, they did say it was because they were upgrading there system. They didn’t say when or if secure messaging wouldn’t be reactivated.tenchy said:Quick question about Barclaycard - have they ditched the Secure Messaging facility? Thanks. I haven't needed to use the facility for a couple of years and when I come to do so it's gone! I hope they're not going the same way as Lloyds/BoS, who operate in the Internet dark ages whereby you need to phone them for everything; no secure messaging available at all.dr_adidas01 said:

Incidentally, my proposed enquiry to BC was about updating the mobile number of my additional cardholder. I did this about three weeks ago but they are still trying to send texts to the old number! What's going on?0 -
What do you mean 'gone'? I messaged them 2 days ago, but it's only working on my phone.

I'm guessing that's a chat dialogue via the app? I don't have the app, and I think chat is deemed insecure so they won't discuss your account - but correct me if I'm wrong - I only use the website via my computer. However, I got an email from them today saying that Secure Messaging has been discontinued and they can't discuss this 'business decision'. What a bunch of idiots! Now, contacting them is likely to require a lengthy "your call is important to us, we are extremely busy, COVID blah, blah, blah" phone conversation.Alex9384 said:What do you mean 'gone'? Chat functionality in the app is still there:

Removing secure messaging seems pretty daft. In the modern world communicating by telephone from abroad cannot be regarded as a serious option. The last time I had to deal with Barclays by phone they ended up paying me several hundred pounds in compensation simply because they could not answer the phone within a reasonable time.0

No access to chat on their website since at least Monday 14th when I discovered a problem and all the site ever says is use the chat facility in the Barclaycard App - never seen any access to that. So far spent a useless two hours trying to reach anyone with any sense - there is a 20 minute wait and then no one human until after 45 minutes!0

The chat option is on the front page of the Barclays and Barclaycard apps1

You can’t miss it as it’s right there as soon as you log on.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:2
