Can I cancel car insurance claim to have my car repaired?
Options
I was in an accident we are awaiting engineer's report for over 3 weeks now on my car. Am I legally allowed to cancel the claim on my car and instruct my car insurance engineer not to categorise my car cat c/d etc. Which will allow me to sort the car out myself as I'm a qualified mechanic to trade. I couldn't care less about a payout for repair costs as this company (1st central) are an absolute nightmare to deal with and I need the car back on the road ASAP.

You can cancel the claim if you want to.

Scrape the gatepost for example and just get it repaired as cheaper than excess and losing NCD.

I know I can cancel my claim but will that cancel out having the car categorised too? It's not been categorised yet0

If they do not inspect it I do not see how they can. When you scrape the gatepost even if you tell them but do not make a claim they have no idea of just how major or minor is the scrape/damage.Of course others may think/say different0
