Any motability cars available now?

I have been waiting since last year to replace my current manual car, having ordered around November 2021. I now found myself in the position where I am unable to drive a manual car, so until my new automatic arrives - I am stuck.

I have a suzuki swace on order. I know the answer to this will probably be "everything is delayed" but are there any automatic cars that would be available now? Or in a few weeks? My dealer just keeps saying "no update", meanwhile I am reliant on my powerchair for short distances and taxis for everything else - which is just going up and up!

Only thing you could do would be to ring round other Motability dealers & ask what availability is like on a car you like from Motability lists.
Or if you have a certain spec/colour choice. Ask if they have any other that they could get quicker.

I placed an order for an automatic in Mid January but before i ordered i visited other dealers to test drive some other cars and all of them told me that there was at least a 6 month wait. This was mini, ford, Nissan, Toyota, Renault and Skoda.
If you're lucky enough to find one then you will need to speak to motability because you won't be able to order another unless the existing order can be cancelled.
You should also be aware that since January the advance payments have increased by quite a lot so it may cost you more. If there's an advance payment on the car you've ordered then you will pay what the advance payment was at the time you ordered. AP on automatics are ridiculously high now.

I have been waiting for a delivery since August last year the car was ordered in March. I took the car I have now for its mot last week and managed to speak to the mobility man. He said they arent making the car I wanted and he should know by Tuesday If the order can be cancelled. He also said mobility would be giving £500 to the customers towards the new advance payments. You should contact them and ask for advice.

I had a phone call today telling me that my car has completed it's build and is due for delivery this week. This was only ordered Mid January 2022.

I've not heard of that and was only speaking to motability at the end of last week. I do know that the new price list has just come out and advance payments have increased substantially again.

I ordered a VW Caddy last November with an estimated delivery of 10-12 months. No further updates as of yet :-(

I'm collecting mine on Tuesday 19th April. Very impressed by the whole process considering there's so many people waiting such a long time.

  • Just to update, I finally got my car 3 weeks ago! I cant drive very far now due to my disability, but at least I can drive with it being an automatic. Such a relief! Oh, and I received a letter from motability with a cheque for £250 that they say they are giving out with all new orders, a very welcome gesture  :)
