Thanks for that. That makes sense when re-reading their email. The 'small' print refers to fixed rate with no mention of any variable options. Is worrying times, thankfully summer is in sight! Thanks againVerdigris said:It looks like you've been offered a fixed deal, which are very expensive at the moment. If you do nothing, you'll stay on the SVT, which will still goi up significantly on April 1st, but not as much as that quote.0 -
Assuming you are not in any arrears, then £516 of usage over 2.5 months is never going to be covered by paying £92/month !
You said you provided readings regularly so why are the December 26th readings ESTIMATES ?
What is your actual annual usage for both ?0 -
If paying by DD is a problem why not move to pay on receipt of bill instead, that way you won't end up with a big debit or credit, there's no price advantage with a monthly fixed DD on the variable tariff.0

If you've gone from an old fixed rate to the new price cap then it's entirely possible. There may also be an element of your use being more than what you've paid for. The DD amount isn't an all you can eat price, it's based on estimated use.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
